I was there in 76, I was 17. Me and two mates down from Doncaster. Absolutely fucking red hot day. I couldn't wait for the stones to come on as I was a massive fan. As stated there was a big delay and it was 2am before they got on. Just remember the crowd getting up on their feet as Lynyrd Skynryd came on stage. Thank god I was there that day. It makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck every time I see a clip of the Skynyrd performance and it's great to be a part of one of the best gigs in History (by Skynyrd). Oh and the band I'd come to see (The Stones) where shite. Also remember the wanker on stage and sleeping in a door way in Welling Garden City until the buses started running. Still have the programme (40p).

Yep, it was bloody hot that summer!I remember, rather than pay over the odds for canned beer, some mates and myself approached our local pub who agreed to sell us afull keg of beer and also lend us a gas bottle and tap! This we duly carted down to Knebworth and then set it up in the arena and enjoyed draught beer all day! Imagine THAT being allowed nowadays!! I guess most folkknow this but a large portion of Skynrd's great set is included on FREEBIRD THE MOVIE DVD,still available I believe.Nige
