Subject: you can create a proper CD of comeandgetit

I'm re-posting this since people seem to still be asking how to do this, or complaining that it can't be done. In order to make a five-track CD out of the comeandgetit download, I did the following:

First, I downloaded the higher bandwidth download. I think that it was an .asf file.

Second, from Windows Media Player (ver. 7), I created a playlist that contained only the one .asf file (which contains all five songs in one track). See the Media Player help on how to do this.

Third, I used the "Copy to CD" feature in Media Player, and selected the playlist that I created that contained the one .asf file. This created a music CD with one long track containing all five songs.

Fourth, I used another program (CD Creator, I believe) to turn (rip?) the single music track on the CD into a .wav file on my computer. Again, this one .wav file contained all five of the songs.

Fifth, I used a .wav editor to chop up the .wav file and to save the five individual songs, each as its own .wav file. This basically involved doing a "save as" with the the .wav file five times, and trimming away. (I'm assuming that if I wanted to I could convert these .wav files into .mp3 files.)

Finally, I used CD Creator to create a CD with the five individual .wav files. So now I have a five-track audio CD of comeandgetit that is playable in any CD player.

I did things a little different. However, I just got word that the sound is coming out of just one speaker. I didn't catch it since my speakers are very close together. I'm trying to fix the settings...but it's a matter of trial and error. Hopefully your method is more effective.

Hey, thanks so much. I was greatly disappointed by the new album, but I'm LOVING comeandgetit. I really want to save it to CD. Thanks for explaining it. I'm gonna give it a shot later.

Hello. I'm stuck at step number three. When I click 'Copy to CD'then get the Playlist, then high the Come and Get file I put there, then click 'OK' I get the error message: "No recording devices detected' even though I have a CD Burner that works fine with the Nero CD buring software. What's up with this?

Okay, I believe my problem is that my CD Burner is not supported by Media Player 7.01, apparently not many are. Where does the comeandgetit_ep file reside? Doesn't it have to be in a folder somewhere? Then you could drag and drop it into Nero if it's a file type Nero supports. And that may be the rub.

I also have a Mac, and as I say in another post, Mac users who don't have OSX are screwed as far as even being able to HEAR the EP. (Funny, since Liz used to advertise for Macs.) On the other hand, since I have both platforms I may be able to record the music from the PC to the Mac and burn it there. I'm looking into that now.

Another, seemingly simpler, though slightly hi-fi way to deal with this is to use a .wav recording program to just record the EP as you play it via Windows Media Player 9. Then save each of the 5 songs separately as .wav files and then burn those... Lo tech, but, works with virtually any sound source, protected or not...
