Has anyone explained to Liz that the aging pop tart is not a pretty site? The new songs are so bad, it's laughable. The 10 year olds who go to Avril Lavigne concerts aren't going to shell out money to see Liz. Christina's going to bitch-slap Liz when they are on TRL together.

What is it - does she need the money? Is she out of ideas? Is she trying to hit up Justin Timberlake? Is she ready for a career change?

I've been a Liz Phair fan for a long time, and it's clear that she didn't record this album for her fans. There were three downloads from the new album on her web site, www.lizphair.com. If they are still there, have a good listen before you start slapping. They are nothing, NOTHING, like the old Liz stuff.

And that's not a good thing. You don't hire the Matrix when you want to stretch your artistic abilities.

This is not evolution. And the 'queen' derailed herself. No one wants to see Liz fail. It's just a shame that this is where she thinks she needs to go. I'm sure I'll be here when she decides to disown this album and 'return to her roots,' but for now, count me out.

Jaqueline- if Liz could record a great new album with the matrix- i would buy it in a second. it doesn't bother me when artists "branch out". unfortunately, really unfortunately since i've been waiting YEARS, this album, or at least the 3 terrible songs i've heard, is going to flop. it neither appeals to her fans nor will it appeal to the mainstream. it's just bad. exile in guyville is one of my 2 favourite albums of all time. i will always love her first albums, however this one is terrible. it is a travesty.

Okay - liv, my name is spelt with a "c" and I think your opinion is antiquated and typical. Maybe the album isn't about demographics, honey. Maybe it's about Liz and when she makes the next one, she'll look back, like she did with all her others and say "that was a document in time."

And ThingOne, you meant "I think YOU'RE all silly," not "your".

From the tracks I have heard, the new album sounds pretty bad. She seems to be alienating the fans who have been supporting her all these years. It's sad that I have been waiting 5 years for this.
If she is aiming for a younger audience, she just isn't going to get it. The young people don't want an almost 40 year old women. Maybe Liz should stop trying to be someone she is not.

unbelievable! she even uses vocoder(!) on the first track. taking a cue from freakin' cher? my god. avril lavigne's songs are better but this record sounds like a avril tribute band. suck suck suck.

sympathy for the recording industry. this cd displays everything that doesn't work in the business. aging "producers" who think they know what the "public" wants, and regularly KILL any shred of artistic integrity a musician has left.

it's like our liz discovered halcion or paxil. just check out the lyrics to "rock me." she must have had a lobotomy.
