Subject: Field Day Concery
Liz phair is playing at Field Day on Long Island. I am a fan of hers but must announce that this event is now the subject of a lawsuit due to the tremendous environmental damage it will have upon the site in the long island Pine Barrens. I hope Liz Phair and the Beastie Boys, two musicians I have listened to for some time, will reconsider playing this event

I'm sure Liz will probably still do it. All she seems to be concerned with is the money.

Of course, she has to be concerned with money, she's not Britney or Cher selling every thing about themselves to the mainstream, Liz is about the music and not many mainstreamer are going to support when a woman has something to say that is true.
YOu know what, if you are concerned about her market her and support her, I have done so for 10years and she has gained fans through my support.
Then the more she make the better she shows will be and the more people she can reach!

I am sure the will take the necessary precautions to make it safe for their fans and their surroundings.
Afterall, it's partly the reponsibility of the artist but mostly it is the reponsibility of the fans as well.
Everyone should clean up after themselves don't find scapegoats.

Go hug a tree...."oh, the concert may damage the precious ecological balance!" It's a f-ing concert. Why don't you relax and try having some fun...say, maybe, by going to a concert perhaps?

Sandra, you obviously didn't see the Entertainment weekly article. Pete Yorn said to Liz, "Isn't it all about the music." Liz said, "Not for me it isn't." She said she likes mainstream radio and wants a hit now. So apparently Liz is just concerned with the money now.

Don't Worry -- Sandra Fernandez, 09:31:19 05/29/03 Thu
In a way I think it meant as spite, maybe. Us as fans for years did not bother promoting her music, I blame myself for that....it's always up to the fans to push the artist somewhere and promother them.
I am a musician myself, studied classical/some jazz, I have listen to rock and punk since the age of 10 thanks to my sister/cool uncle Jerry.
But I find that to earn money to survive and to buy equipment or get my foot in the door....I have to wirte Pop/Hip Hop why because most of these singers are slow at finisht their albums therefore I collaborate or wirte for them. It pays or hopefully it will.
Liz Phair is an underground artist, but I think she has woken up like most underground artist that the industry is full of crap and if majority don't listen to her she doesnt get radio play, tour is also cancelled because venues are not convinced that she is talented enough for them to invest their time.
Its a fucking horrible monopoly and I think that's why Ms. Phair is taking that route~ I SUPPORT HER TOTALLY and will also buy her new album to keep her going!
Don't worry she will be back with more fuck and run, I promise!!! It ain't over for her!

Oh one more thing -- Sandra FErnz, 09:34:53 05/29/03 Thu
She can't make a living depending solely on her undergroud fans, she needs to at least get her album platinum to secure a wide variety of fans from all walks of life.
It's a bit of business and pleasure...she has to do this. All great bands have been bashed from threading on underground to takin g the easy route going into the mainstream......just support her and keep on giving her some ideas of maintaning her art.
Push her album, I have been since last week, and many have grown to like her, listenning to her second album Whip Smart

A LONG time fan -- caitlin, 01:30:32 05/31/03 Sat
There has been a lot of discussion as to whether or not Liz Phair is doing the right thing. Although I am not a huge fan of top 40, and prefer her earlier recordings (and yes I have listend to/own them ALL) I still respect her right to choose her path. This does not mean we have to follow it. If she chooses to go a route that we do not agree with (ie following avril) we can either follow her or not. I do not think we can judge her. We merely have to stop buying her albums. Is this not how an audience votes? Stop complaining and either buy or not buy her albums. We can't condemn her for changing her music. But we can choose to listen to it or not. I will probably buy her new album, hate it and not buy another. But I won't blame HER for that. I just won't buy her next one. But I WILL keep listening to Exile, and Juvenilia and WCSE and all the bootlegs. That is what I like. She doesn't have to reproduce those albums, just for me (or us). She doesn't OWE us anything. Neither do we OWE her buying her next (probably crappy) albums.
