Ah yes, the "Sophmore Slump" second album, never as good as the first.
Funny, though, most of the songs were already written before the first album ever came out.
Do your self a favor and find the other 2 albums before they get completely deleted and Liz is forgotten forever.

Come back Liz! Don't leave us hanging!

Whip Smart isn't quite as good as "Exile in Guyville" (it lacks some the edge which "Exile" is famous for), but it certainly beat the hell out of Whitechocolatespaceegg.

I think WS is her best. 'shane' & 'mayqueen' give me the shivers like some of those old delta blues artists. I think she is closer to the blues in her lyrical content on WS than any other self-confessional pop artist of the nineties.

Whipsmart was my first intro to Liz. Blown away by it and then picked up Exile after that. I love them both equally. Not as crazy about White, though.

Yeah I don't get why people dislike whip-smart so much-- Alice Springs is a damn good song...and May Queen is cool too. Anyhoo, Julia Darling kicks ass-- she's very...different? I mean, she doesn't really have a specific thing that she fits into-I like that. Still waiting for a new album...it's been almost 4 years I think.

Whipsmart is underatted because there isn't as much sexual frankness so the fat dorky rock critics didn't get inot it as much. (there was on ewho even admited as much on a link at allmusic.com)
But yeah I like Whipsmart as much as Exile sometimes even more (not often though) :)
WhiteChoclateSpaceEgg, in my opinion, gets unfairly dismissed because it's happy and for some reason it can't be high art unless it's anguished for some people. Don't get me wrong it's not as taut as Exile or Whipsmart but it's a strong album nonetheless. Especially considering some of the detritus that gets released on a yearly basis.
