Subject: how do I get this guy to notice me

I am in the same boat, it's this guy at my job that is really hot. I asked his friend his name and everything. One day I got the balls to write him a message telling him that I was feeling him and maybe we can get up this weekend or something. He writes me back saying I am normally a busy man but sometimes I have free. So after that I was done and he saw me in the break room and started talking to me I wasn't going to say anything to him and he started having small talk about if I was going to these events coming up. Everytime I write him though he just gives me the answer and that is it, so what does this mean. Is he playing hard to get or really don't like me and just don't want to hurt my feelings.
