The difference between a fetus and an unfertilized eggs, is that a fetus is more than just a potential life, it is destined to be a human life, if it isn't one already. It exists to further human kind and will absolutely be a human life, whereas an egg is definitely not unless it is conjoined with a sperm cell.
Once the sperm and egg interact, the result is a completely unique individual, with every aspect of it's physicality (barring any outside interference) genetically predetermined at the moment of initial cell division.
