Daddy, can you hear me Daddy? It’s been a year now,
Is it going to get easier?
I mean for me, will I ever be happy again?
I’m sick of missing you. I want you home,I want to see your face,I want Mom to laugh again and I want to see this family smile!I try to be mad at you to make it easier.I blame you for what this family is STILL GOING THROUGH!
I think how could he leave us, but you didn’t choose to go, so how am I suppose to be mad.
Maralyn started kinder garden this year, (pause)
She carries a picture of you in her lunch box,
And brags about you to all of her friends, she says you’re the best dad in the world.You are, I mean you were!
Maralyn keeps asking ‘when’s Daddy coming home?’
I can’t answer her, I can’t say it, I just can’t say you’re gone.I guess you could say I’m a coward. I can’t face the truth.I want you home; I just can’t wake up to have to star at that empty chair I have stared at for the last year.I just want things back to normal, back the way they were before the crash and before you left us.
Some night I want to cry, but I try not to because I know you hate it when I cry, you never wanted me to be sad.
Maralyn keeps saying that someday we will visit you in heaven.
She thinks heaven is just a hop, skip, and a jump away.
Do you remember her prayer, she wanted to tell you how she can swim now, how she can push herself on the swing, and how much she wanted you there. We all wanted you there for the past year.
She is just to young to have to go through this, to young to loose her daddy, who was her world, her whole world shattered when you left it.
I love you daddy, please come home!
I have to go to bed now.
I sleep with the light on and the door open,
Just incase you come home, and kiss me goodnight
