CINESTORY LAUNCHES 2004 SCREENWRITING AWARDS

Writer's conservatory CineStory kicks off its 8th annual CineStory Screenwriting Awards. Committed to nurturing creative approaches to storytelling, the contest links new writers to industry professionals, sparking mentorships and a deeper understanding of the business.

Winners receive cash prizes, and all top sixteen semifinalists are invited to the annual CineStory Retreat, a three day intensive bringing together writers and film pros, one-on-one.

One of last year's winners showed clips of his winning script, (featuring Hilary Swank, Barbara Hershey, Rachel Leigh Cook and Patrick Swayze) which was bought, shot and in post by the time he attended the retreat.

Sponsored in part by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, CineStory has been ranked one of the top four most usual resources for screenwriters by Entertainment Weekly and has aided all levels of writers in both industry and craft.

Past judges and mentors have hailed from such entities as:

The Artists Agency, Baumgarten Merims Productions, Buena Vista Motion Pictures, Creative Artists Agency, Debra Hill Productions , The Donners? Company, Egg Pictures, Endeavor, Focus Features, Gold Circle, The Gold/Miller Company, Innovative Artists Agency, Lakeshore Entertainment, Marc Platt Productions, Miramax, New Crimes Productions, Paradigm, Pixar, Redeemable Features, Sanford/Pillsbury Productions, Shapiro-Lichtman Talent Agency,  The Shooting Gallery, Warner Bros.

Deadline October 1, 2003 for both feature length scripts and shorts.
