Subject: Lauren Comedy Monologue

5-8 minutes is a rather long monologue to be looking for. You don't see them in such length that often.

One thing I can recommend is to find a play where you can take some dialogue of a character you feel comfortable with and adapt it to a monologue. I've done that for people in the past.

One example you might find interesting is from 'Steam Bath,' where I took the Meredith character and created a fairly long monologue from her conversations about how she wound up there (If you know the play you'll understand) and some other things from her life that are found in the first I think 20 pages. (Been awhile, don't remember exactly.)

Another I wrote is for a guy who was using the climatic scene from 'A Few Good Men' where he was trying that, but it was purely one sided dialogue. The one obstacle is to remember that dialogue, intented for interaction, and a monologue, requiring no response, are just a bit different, so be mindful in such an adaptation. I made the 'A Few Good Men' scene into the attorney giving his summation and reacting and reenacting the witness testimony.

Good luck.
