Subject: Screenplay as Literature Competition

I thought this was something some of you might be interested in knowing about...

For Immediate Release:

Screenplaylit is very pleased to announce the opening of a unique new screenplay competition. The "Screenplay as Literature" Competition seeks to encourage recognition and promote appreciation of the screenplay as a legitimate literary art form.

The competition came out of a realization that many screenplays, because of quirky structure, atypical characters and non-mainstream premise, had about a "snowball's chance" of getting produced in today's world of cookie-cutter film making.

That is a criminal shame. Many of these screenplays possess dynamic storylines and fascinating characters, explore intriguing concepts and work on the level of literature. It is a sad fact that the majority of these works will only be viewed by a handful of people, then forgotten forever in some dark file. Thus, this competition.

The competition begins immediately. Submissions will be accepted until December 15th, 2001. The winning screenplay
will be published in book form and made available in hard cover, trade paper back and e-book formats. Total prize cash value is $5,000+.

For more information please visit our website at www.screenplaylit.com.

Sincerely,

david r williams, SPL Coordinator
