I hope you don't mind me disagreeing about the question. I don't think Phoebe is indespensible to the show. I agree she is very funny, but I can live without her. As far as I'm concerned, Chandler is the character of which friends couldn't live without. Without him, there IS no Friends. Without Chandler, there are no jokes, no neuroticy (is that a word?) without going over the top, there are no classic facial expressions to laugh at and there would be no Matthew Perry!! Friends could not live without him. The ratings would plummet.

Phoebe's 'quirks' sometimes annoy me. I think I can live without Ross
