You are entitled to be upset about that! I used to date a guy who was 'on wheels' too, and the things he went through... People are stupid and have so many prejudices that I just... argh! While I don't know personally what you went through, I do know what it feels to helplessly watch someone you love immensely being treated that way. You have every right to be angry, Jana!
