It wasn't stupid of him...can you imagine the reaction of the others if say he got nominated for lead actor and one of them was nominated for supporting actor? He did the right thing totally but at the same time also ruined his possible best chance of getting any emmy recognition. Noone at that point, least of all him, knew what was going to happen to him over the next couple of years, so for one year it wasn't that serious, but of course looking back, it did ruin his best chance. We'll see - he should win an award for best tvguide cover ever looking at those pictures..ok its very early here :)
