I have been contimplating, since I moved to Defuniak Springs last November, of opening up a new pageant for this area. However, this pageant will be different from the norm. This pageant will be very professional, however, it will be a mail-in pageant. The contestants will receive a special packet by mail, and then mail in their pictures for beauty/formal, sportswear/casual wear, and a head shot for photogenic, along with appropriate fees and forms. Also, there will be video mail-in's for talent competitons for certain age groups. There will be tiaras/crowns, sashes, possibly sceptures, sash pins, local gift certificates to vendures, and a special "Good Will" prize along with 50% of the earnings of that competition going to the charity of the winners choice. I am also working on winner's announcements in the local paper as well as a placement in the local parade/s here in Defuniak Springs, the county seat of Walton County. No one walks away without at least a finalist trophy prize. The fee to enter will be quite reasonable and possibly even based on categories entered.
I feel this type of pageant will cover those of Walton County who cannot, or find it hard to, travel to specific competitions and stay all day at those competitions with their children. Some may find traveling to competitions costly and cumbersome, and this would be an outlet for those who are in that position. OR for those that do like to travel, they can attend other pageants as they also compete in this one, if they so choose.
I am working on a website for the upcoming pageant with more detail, but does anyone here feel this is a pageant they would be interested in?
There will be two or possibly three judges, with myself being one, with a simple point system that will apply in each category. All judges will receive a special judges pen set, and gift basket.
I have had self-training in Directing, and I am a certified and affiliated pageant judge with the Epic International Association. I have also ran 4 different on-line photo contests in the past two years, both paid and free, all with great prizes. I am still hashing out the details, but would be interested in your input and if you feel this pageant would be of interest to you or anyone you know.
