Subject: Discussion Boards

Discussion boards are a great way to share information. They unfold much like an outline. A topic is posted, to which replies are added. Many topics can be running at the same time, questions can be posed and answers received. Some innovative uses include:
Posting homework.
Students helping other students with homework.
Class discussions of reading assignments.
Global pen pals.
Idea forums.
Brainstorming sessions.
If you have an innovative use for discussion boards - post it here.

It could be a great way to get things accomplished without needing meetings. It is also a great way to get feedback on specific issues.

The Miller Staff has been using a discussion board for school spirit! They have used it to set up bowling nights and to pick their teams. I suppose we could also use it for book clubs when it is too tough to meet. An overall great way to communicate!

[> Rules For Student Use -- P. Whalen, 03:46:20 03/22/02 Fri

As this becomes a standard feature of technology we should think about how students will use this. The boards should be password protected of course, but we will also have to train students to use first name or first name, last initial only. Any other thoughts?
