Subject: My Christmas Without Dad

I just wanted to wish you all a joyous holiday and to let you know how my First Christmas with Dad not here went. I spent a few days home with my family and it was hard not having dad there with us. My dad loved Christmas. We managed to get by with tears and happy moments. I think I had a few ADCs from Dad. The first was on Thursday where it was rainy and dark here in Northeast PA. My mom and I went to visit dad at the cemetery and then went food shopping for all the wonderful food that we prepare for Christmas Eve dinner. Well mom and I were getting out of the car walking in the store and the most beautiful rainbow was shining over the direction of the cemetery. I said mom look!!! Even others in the parking lot saw it, then it was gone at the blink of an eye! I felt it was dad telling us to go ahead with our food shopping (since dad loved to eat), celebrate, cook, bake and enjoy like we did last year. My mom and I were amazed. Then on Christmas day we went to 9:30 mass and I was asked to carry up the gifts to the alter with my aunt (dads sister) That was very special to me. After mass we went to visit dad and in front of his grave was a round piece of bread (hard Italian bread) Well my mom said look at that piece of bread, "He must know you both carried up the Bread and Wine for mass, and that was his way of saying I got communion also in heaven" It was a good feeling. I do feel dad was with all of us for Christmas. My dad was very religious and it was a very special time of the year for all of us. We managed to get through it. All I can say is I miss him so much but know he is ok. Thanks again for your support the past 7 months!
