Subject: Methods for Plant extraction

Hi!

I am quite new in plant field, I am going to extract medicine plants as following steps:
Partition procedures

1. Plant medicine
2. Dry completely
3. Grinding
4. Methanol extraction
5. Filtration using Watmann No. 5 filter paper
5. Concentration with rotary evaporator
6. Suspend in distilled water
7. Partitioning
1) partition with hexane
2) partition with n-butanol
3) then remain water extract

I have a problem with butanol-partition. After partitioned with hexane, extracts (without evaporated) are added with butanol, but there is no 2 layer between butanol and water layer.

Could you give me a hint? and give me a link to learn basic method in Plant Extraction?
