Well, for starters you have the wrong motor to want to do upgrades on, the motor you have is VERY similar to the z24 Cavalier of that year. I would look for upgrades for that car.

You would be much better off finding a Malibu with the V6 3.1 Motor (which became standard in 2000) I got mine to run mid 16's (Mile high Altitude) with Intake and full exhaust on the V6

I used to own a 98 Malibu before and I decided to sell it and get my now current 1978 Mali. But before I did it I was looking into a motor swap. A Pontiac GTP Motor 3.8 Supercharged. The cars have the same block, just different Displacement. If you want more info on that email me.

But if thats not want you want, then go to J-body.org they have tons of stuff for the Cavi Motor.
