Escape Reality

Careening down life's highway,
speeding out of control.
Weaving in and out of the broken hearts,
left behind on the wayside.

Faster and faster,
the wind whips your hair.
Leaving everything behind,
never looking in the rearview mirror.

Press the pedal harder,
past the point of no return.
Objects flying by unnoticed,
eyes fixed dead ahead.

Never can you go fast enough.
Never can you go far enough.
Never can the music be loud enough,
to escape the screaming of your
shattered heart.
