Cut old jeans into fairly large patches-smallest about 5-6 inches square. Lay the pieces next to each other, overlapping one edge about 1". Sew through the middle of the overlap about 1/2" from the edge of each piece. One raw edge will now be on the back, one on the front, with stitching 1/2" from the edge. Keep adding pieces until it is big enough, trim the edges and sew 1/2" from the edge all the way around. That's all! When washed the edges will fray and the blanket will be soft and cozy and take a lot of abuse.

Futher instructions

Sew two patches together, add another to the end of the two,
then add another to the end of the third, etc until you
have the row as long as you want the blanket to be.
Put that row away, and start over making another row as
long as the first.
Make as many rows as you as you want. More rows, bigger the
blanket.

You might have 10 separate rows, or 30 , it doesn't matter.
Now, place one row on table or floor and put another row
right beneath it. Overlap the bottom row over the top
row 1-2 inches and sew down the middle of the overlap.
You will have two rows sewn together. Add another
row to the bottom of this. Keep adding rows until
all are attached.
When you sew the rows together it will be one
long seam down the length of the row. Pinning the rows
together will help keep them in place while you sew
