Germany declared war on the United States ONLY BECAUSE Japan, their partner by treaty, declared war on the United States by bombing Pearl.

you see Germany had an agreement with Japan to declare war on the US should Japan declare war in the US. OTHER than that the only thing that the US was doing was helping the Brits and the German U Boats were more than happy to just sink our supply ships.
