I should have stated on the mainland and no it doesn't make it any less important. It's the location that makes it important, a land locked state in the Mid West that had nothing to do with the reasons McVeigh felt important.

Japan did not attack us because they hated America or American policy, remember they were also in a war with China at the same time. No with Japan it was about power and creating an Empire that controled the entire Pacific. A great book to read on the subject and how we finally won the war is American Caesar - Douglas MacArthur 1880-1964 by William Manchester.
