From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Torture is any act by which severe pain, whether physical or psychological, is intentionally inflicted on a person as a means of intimidation, a deterrent, revenge, a punishment, or as a method for the extraction of information or confessions (i.e. "third-degree methods" of interrogation). Torture is also used as a method of coercion or as a tool to control groups seen as a threat by governments. Throughout history, it has often been used as a method of effecting religious conversion or political "re-education". The severe pain and suffering of torture often causes long-term trauma in its victims.

In other words, bj, it is the continued beating you take when confronted with facts you choose to disregard.
