Dateline Baton Rouge… BEAST NEWS and NOTES…

- As advertised, one will never know who gets the ball in Louisiana. 7 different rushers logged carries so far: 3 HBs, a FB, a QB and 2 WRs… and 7 season? 2 were completed: Broderick Sargent (St Louis) and Rayshaun Askew (Louisiana.)

- Rookie P Louis Perez (Mobile) completed a 24 yard pass on a fake punt. 4 others Ps have attempts. Don’t EVER recall so many fake or razzle-dazzle plays 2 years in a row receivers have logged catches so far.

- …and to think Portland management was once reluctant to start QB Albert Higgs?

- 4 HBs have thrown passes in 2 weeks worth of games this in any other league?

- Springfield QB James Brown posted a solid 105.7 rating filling in for Wilkie Perez in week 1 victory. All non qualifiers have performed well this season (106.67 avg Rtg.)

- OK, QB Joshua Wallwork (85 HA) fumbled 3 times in one game, as Louisiana experimented with a shotgun offense in the 2nd half of week 1. But HB Jamie Lee (83 HA, 90 EN) with 3 in one game? No team has been spared the fumble this season… and when it hits, it usually hits hard. Mobile HB Brad LaCombe (85 HA, 84 EN) is the latest with 3. OUCH!

- Congratulations to WR Anthony Payton who conquered the 600 catch plateau last week.

- P Brian Lee leads the league with 37.3 net average. He has but 4 touchbacks in 5 games. Any more questions why Louisiana employs a punter with low ST?

- The Beast faithful are happy the team found a way to hide its’ weak link: just ram it past the goal with the rush attack. (league leading 10 rush TDs in 5 games) At least K Brion Hurley makes PATs. Then he can take out his frustrations doing what he’s best at: tackle opposing kick off return men.

- This week the jury reaches a verdict on future cleanse parties. Beat Wichita, bring back the party!
