I'm not saying anyone is not an active owner. I'm saying that the players that make up the "good" teams came from the same drafts that make up the "bad" teams.

My available player list went out in an email a couple days ago. It went to your AOL address as well, if I recall correctly, but here it is again (modified for 1 already completed trade):

Y SP AC AG ST HA EN IN DI
RB Stovall, Jeff 7 89 84 85 89 85 81 79 78
WR Brooks, Sean 7 88 85 87 84 84 83 76 80
WR Buchannon, C. 5 90 87 88 74 83 76 86 66
OL Crowder, Dem. 5 75 85 81 90 78 79 75 77
DL Sperduto, Pat 2 66 75 71 82 68 77 70 73
LB Thurin, Dan 6 81 73 70 86 61 75 73 70
DB Bush, Eric 7 86 78 82 69 72 76 75 70
DB Chiles, Kevin 7 89 79 82 70 72 73 74 69

I'm looking for draft picks for these players. In fact, I'm always looking for picks- I like to farm my own guys up. Every player on my team I either drafted or picked up from free agency- I spend about a week on manipulating the draft list to kick out a drafting order to use, and watch for additions to the free agency pool each year.

Just like most other owners, I'll even consider offers for players I don't put out on lists. Everyone has their own preferences.. Jimmy and I, for example, tend to be at either end of the spectrum. I like picks, he likes vets. If you need certain players, find out who has what you need and find out if they can be bought.....

As to the "here since the beginning" bit... my offense and defense are completely different from a roster standpoint. My offensive guys are largely 7/8 guys from season 1- I believe you said they have "5-8 seasons" left, I'd say maybe 2-3 for the bulk of them, with most bowing out earlier as I can't afford to have my entire offense retire at once! Many I hope to hang on to, of course, though as they are now in the throes of ageing their capabilities are dropping as a whole. Before the cries of "HA! See, those season 1 players give you an advantage!" begin, I might point out that my "stacked with talent" super-human around-since-the-beginning offense came in 6th in the league- gaining in total 50 (yes fifty) more yards than Fort Wayne.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, my defense is younger players- primarily from the season 2/3 drafts, where I had the 18th pick in each round. My defense came in second in scoring, and 40 yards shy of second in yards given up... and is powered by players that every single team passed up at least once before I could draft them. They even were on the field more than opposing defenses. A couple of them are 1st/2nd round guys, the rest are late rounders and guys I grabbed after the draft as free agents- heck, one of my DTs was passed over season 2 draft, sat in the free agent pool all season 2, and was picked up from that pool season 3. My point is, everyone's had a shot at these players, and didn't take them. Why? Because they drafted even better players. Where are they? I don't know.

My final note about "since the beginning" teams.... the other teams that dominated that year, reached the conference finals, aren't necessarily doing so well:

Honolulu: 5-9
Mississipi: 7-7
Texas: 8-6

The worst team that year by far?

Dayton: 12-2 (won some playoff games)

But to be honest, I agree with you. I'd sign something asking Dave to kick in a +10 to every stat type adjustment to this year's draft. After all, I get to draft the same guys you do!.... and this season's the perfect time to recruit some guys to take over for my old-timers.
