Subject: quickie week 7 stuff?

Best I could do this week, sorry guys…

There is a reason we usually don’t start this column until the second half of the season. It takes the first half to accurately project how teams have assimilated talent and adjusted game management plans. We started early, and have paid the price… no matter. It was fun and hopefully informative for the league faithful. We MUST say week 6 stats are some of the wackiest we have ever witnessed? Yet another reason we are reluctant to go to press with this column until week 8! Week 7 concludes the 1st half. We’ll attempt to recap last week, and predict this week. This will be an abbreviated edition… time is precious of late. Games are listed in our opinion of order of interest.

GAMES OF THE WEEK? MANY stand out, take your pick!

Black Hills at Utah

Black Hills dispatched Fort Wayne as expected. Utah took to the road and ripped Green Bay. Utah hot of late, needs this one to keep pace for the conference crown. They are due for a home win. Black Hills hit the ground running this season, but are due for a fall. Line set at Utah – 2.

Springfield at Louisiana

Springfield ambushed Wichita at Wichita much like last season. Springfield escaped with a victory over Louisiana at Springfield last season. Louisiana lost last week on a league record 53 yard FG at the final gun… if you’re gonna end a 14 game non-losing streak, AND lose to a division team with an ongoing rivalry, that’s the way to do it. Tip ‘o the cap to Mobile. Grudge match this week, which favors a stronger Louisiana team? Line set a Louisiana – 4.

Wichita at Colorado

Wichita and Springfield are at it again this season? Springfield wins at Wichita, we expect Wichita will win at Springfield? Colorado coming on of late, which probably means they slack off this week. Wichita may squeak out a win this week, but watch out for the #1 ranked Colorado defense! Line set a Wichita –1.

Mississippi at Mobile

Mississippi held off the luckless Lincoln squad, Mobile ecstatic after finally beating the Beast! Few will remember the record walk off 53 yard FG, because the monkey is off their back! This is an important division match up. Mobile is terrible on the road, HB Damon Benning rounding into form. Line set at Mississippi – 2.

Honolulu at Portland

Travel arrangements apparently were not favorable last week, as Honolulu failed miserably at Fargo. They road trip Portland this week. Portland just too strong vs the Hurricanes. Line set at Portland –5.

Green Bay at Texas

Green Bay destroyed by Utah, Texas unlucky at Madison. This one’s a toss up. Give Texas a – 1 advantage home advantage.

Steel Valley at Madison

Steel Valley bloodied by the sharp clawed Wildcats attack, Madison plucky to nip Texas in OT. Gotta feel Madison ekes out another W. Line set at Madison – 6.

Dayton at Fort Wayne

Dayton held off Portland (barely), Fort Wayne just did not have enough game to deal with Black Hills. Fort Wayne is done… put a fork in ‘em… Line set at Dayton –4.

Fargo at Lincoln

Fargo surprised everybody with a convincing drubbing of Honolulu. Pick ‘em… no clue who’s more motivated here. Lincoln at home, line set at Lincoln – 2.
