I believe that the message board header images are actually stored on homestead.com's server. That is why they may load more consistantly than those on homepage.com. As for the Clutch album covers, those are still on angelfire, so those should be the ones that you should definetly not have problems with, as they have not changed since their creation. I might just use homestead.com for all images if the x's keep appearing. They'd love that I'm sure.
