• He made his way to the door after the second or third kick - he had just gotten out of the shower and was just pulling on his sweater and jeans. Ducking out of his room, he raced for the door like an impatient high schooler, pausing a moment to check himself in the mirror in the hallway - he wasn't conceited, he argued, he just wanted to look his best, as always - that was why there was a mirror in the hall in the first place, right? • "Hey!" She handed over some things thankfully and reached up to press a quick kiss to his cheek before stepping inside and kicking off her shoes. "You look nice." She informed him with an affectionate smile and a playful wink, then took a quick look around and then held out the rest of the bags - not for him to take but to show him just how much work they had to do.. • He grinned, and closed the door behind her with the end of his toes, leading her toward the kitchen. As their tour took them to the center of the house, of course, the kitchen, he nodded down a hall - "Bathroom and guest room down there... kitchen in here.. you're staying over, right? So we can open presents in the morning like the real thing?" He grinned back at her - he had no ulterior motives here at all - he supposed he had just assumed... • "Sounds perfect." She assured him with a small smile before handing him a couple things and setting the rest of the stuff up on the island as well, and then starting to unpack it all. "I'm starving already... We're not going to be able to get this food ready fast enough." She glanced over at him and ran a hand down his arm, tone playfully teasing. • He feigned taking offense to that and shook his head, beginning to pull things out of the bags and wandering over to the stove to preheat the oven. "That's a lie. You've seen me in my uniform too, right?" He came back over, taking his place beside her at the island to pull more things out of more bags, and bumped her shoulder with his playfully. • "Yeah, I think so... You caught me in an embellishment." She admitted with a dramatic sigh and then another wink as she glanced over at him, and then looked back to the food infront of her. Lips gently pursing, she handed him some vegetables and instructed him on how to cut them up while she busied herself with preparing other things. "Did you have a good day?" • After a moment or two he finally nodded. "Yeah, I worked a short shift this morning.. and I picked up the tree, hope you don't mind.. I just figured we'd probably get nothing if I didn't - they had a pretty sorry looking arrangement even when I got there." She assured him with a nod and a small grin, then fell silent for a little while as they got things going - she was looking forward to eating, but the preparation part was kind of fun on his own. • He wasn't sure how it was that they had fallen into such an easy friendship - they seemed like such different characters.. but similar at the same time - though they hadn't talked much about it, he was sure that his childhood was much different from hers, and they were in very different fields at the moment as well.. he enjoyed her company though, inexplicably, and enjoyed her conversation - "I got everything looked after. • "You're so clever." She informed him with a playful smirk and an affectionate wink and then shoved a couple dishes into the oven and the rest into the fridge until it was time for them to go in. After wiping her hands, she turned to face him, leaning back against the counter and crossing her arms under her chest with a small smile. "Now.. We wait." • "Sure..." She agreed with a slow nod and then a slight smile. "Well, I am just that good... Plus I pre-prepared the hard stuff." She pointed out and shrugged a little - it was so late already that if they had left everything to be done, well they would be eating dinner some time around midnight. Pushing off the counter, she hooked an arm around his neck - having to strain to reach up because he was so much taller than her - and tugged him after her towards the living room. "Tree time!" • He bent a little bit in order to accomodate her arm around his neck and then limped toward the living room like Igor, with his back hunched and his head down. It lasted about two steps before he just swung her up into his arms, carrying her like an infant and then depositing her with great gusto on the couch. "I have some of my momma's old ornaments, but I bought some new ones... ma sent them along so that I could think of her." • Squealing as he deposited her on the couch, she laughed and stretched out a little, one hand resting behind her head as she gazed up at him. "That's cute... Break 'em out! I'll tell you where to put them." Her tone was quite matter-of-fact and she seemed to be in no hurry to move anywhere right then. • He scowled a little and pulled out the boxes of ornaments from behind the loveseat positioned near the tree. Pausing once, as he was bent, he jerked his head around to get a look at her. "You're definitely checking my butt out, Bryani.. and I don't think that's allowed," he teased, before straightening and bringing out the carefully wrapped ornaments of his mothers plus the shiny new ones he'd purchased. • "I definitely am... And it's looking might fine if I may say so." She teased him back and laughed softly, shifting onto her side and waving one hand dismissively. "I'm just going to lie here for a few moments... You go right ahead and get started." Smothering a yawn, she drew her knees up towards her chest and then grinned, one eyelid dropping in a wink. • He merely shook his head at her, unwrapping a few ornaments before he changed his mind, pulling out the fuzzy silver garland, and pulling it off of it's spool, length by length, onto her lap, nearly covering the poor girl in the tacky glistening snake of a rope. • "Aw thanks. So thoughtful." She exclaimed with a soft laugh and tugged the garland carefully off of herself, and then shifted to stand. "Here, hold this." She handed him one end of the tinsel and then made a big production of walking around him slowly - decorating him up quite nicely, in her humble opinion. • She laughed but nodded, gently touching the 'halo' around her head and lingering close so as not to lose her little decoration. "Okay! I can handle that." Her grin lingering, she reached out to adjust his garland a little bit - it had to be all even and all that, afterall. "We look so pretty." She growled playfully and gave his shoulder a gentle shove before ducking away from her halo and jogging into the kitchen to check on their food - which wasn't yet anywhere near being done - when the buzzer went off. Returning just moments later, she shook her head at him. "C'mon Nik, stop goofing around. We have so much to do." • He shot her a look - as though to say 'I would be getting to work if I had an option, but I don't cause I'm all tied up...'.. in fewer words, of course, and shook his head, clearing his throat a little bit and dipping his head to gesture to the tinsel wrapped around him. • She couldn't contain her laugh, and so just let it out, then shook her head again as she reached for the end of the garland and started to walk around him slowly as she untangled him. "You are so useless. Can't even help yourself out of a little dilemma." She tsk'd playfully and winked, reaching up to kiss his cheek quickly on that pass - just to show that she was only teasing and really didn't think he was even the least bit useless. I wouldn't be so useless if it was a dilema that I got myself into.. because then I would know how to get out of it but you did this to me!"
