Date Posted: 04:50:10 05/19/02 Sun I am alarmed by the increasing numbers of foreigners, irrespective of the colour of their skin, who are migrating to Ireland, north and south of the border, to live here as permanent residents. My alarm is not rooted in racialism or racism. I do not regard the Irish race as superior, and wish foreigners no harm. They can be welcomed as tourists or students, but I think that most people should live, as permanent residents, in their own country of origin. We are all entitled to security and the means of livelihood in our country of origin. We are entitled to defend our Irish culture and traditions from dilution and attack. Genuine refugees fleeing from persecution are a different matter; they should be welcomed as far as our resources allow, but a multi-racial society in Ireland, would not be in the best interest of Irish nationals. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/j.caughey [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
