OOC: Yah I know it's long but it's the only long post by them, since it's their joining post I thought I might make a story out of it...and I'm bored...:) -Kari (Hey now I play in the horse realm too *gives self a pat on the back*)

Past: ~The young colt burst through the shrubs and skirted around the trees that got into his path. Yet he couldn’t run fast enough to escape the picture of his dams face as she told him to run. It was around every corner, carved into every crag of rock, imbedded into the depths of his mind. The fear that she had felt for his life and the dread that the stallion would come after her colt instead of herself, those fears were written in her deep brown eyes when she told him to go. The young foal knew that his mother would give her life for the chance that her son would live, this was why his mother was so strong, but he knew that his dam couldn’t stand up to that stallion, no...he had to go back.~

~He turned on his onyx hooves, the harsh cold winter wing his him like a whip as he turned into it and the snow blew into his mane and face melting and freezing fast, soon it hung down from his mane and muzzle. The dark browned colt on in the blizzard for what felt like hours on end, yet was only a few minutes, until he came upon the fallen black mare that was his mother. He ran to her and stood over her un-breathing form, holding back the tears that threatened but they came none the less. The pain blocked his scenes, he couldn’t tell that he was not alone in the area where his dam had lost her life. The suddenly he lifted his head and looked around and behind him, he could now tell that he wasn’t alone here, his orbs grazed as far as he could see, yet in the storm it was only about five feet front and back. Then out of the blizzard came a chestnut colored stallion, his legs caring him gracefully over the white blanket that covered the ground and through the storm.~

~The stallion came and stood next to the colt.~ Did you know her?
~The colt lowered his head and kept it down.~ She was my mother, what happened?
~The stallion shook his head sadly and in regret.~ I heard a struggle between two horses, when I arrived I came upon a stallion and a mare, other horses, mostly stallions, had formed a ring around them. The fighting stallion reared and hit the mare with his hooves. I galloped in and drove them off but... ~The stallion stopped his words.~
She’s dead isn’t she? ~The colt lifted his head to peer at the stallion.~
~The stallion nodded his head slowly.~ I came back only to find her dead, the last blow was the killing one.
~The colt stared down again at the soulless body of his mother, eyes filled with rage and his heart consumed by sadness. He hated the stallion that had done this.~
~The stallion next to him looked down as well at the lifeless body.~ Why would someone do this?

~The colt looked back and forth to the stallion then to his dead dam.~ Before I was birthed there was a battle going on between two herds for power over a vast territory. When I was born my mother didn’t want me in any danger so she left our herd to leave the lands, when I was grown we were to return. Time passed then the enemy found us. He said that my father had killed his filly so to pay it back he would kill me. My dam tried to tell him that we were no longer part of my sires herd, that we had moved on, but the stallion said that she was just trying to tell lies to save our hides. ~The colt stopped, he couldn’t go on. The memory was to painful. And why should he be telling this to a stranger anyway? Yet, try as he might the memory flooded into his mind. The stallion reared and shattered his dams shoulder blade. She turned around but instead of running fell, she then raised her gaze to him, “run” she whispered to him. Fear over took his brain and made his body act on impulse, he fled the scene yet he had stopped and come back. Now here he was, standing over the lifeless body of his mother who had been so strong.~

~The stallion could figure out what had happened from the point where the colt stopped. He turned and started to walk off.~ If you like you can come with me, I know a place where we will be safe from the storm. ~He left the colt then, knowing that if he wished to follow he would.~
~The young brown colt stood , not wanting to leave yet knowing that he would have to. Lowering his muzzle to nuzzle his mother one last time he followed the chestnut stallion’s hoof prints.~

~The prints lead to a small clearing yet covered by trees so that it kept out much of the harsh wind. There the stallion waited for the colt and introduced himself.~ I am called Shattered Twilight. Now what is your name, little colt?
~The colt said nothing and kept his head down.~
~Twilight snorted and turned to walk away.~ You can dig beneath the snow to find grass, when the storm is over I can take you to a place where we will find more food.
~The colt then raised his head.~ Colossal Chaos.
~Twilight turned his head and gazed at the colt.~ What?
My name is Colossal Chaos.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

~That was the worst winter of Chaos’s life. Two months passed and Chaos learned how to fend for himself. He was still with Twilight and he still had much to learn, his temper and pride were two things that got him into much trouble. The one day...~

~Chaos was grazing near a small pond on the tall grass around it’s edges, then out of the morning mist came a dark blackened figure. The figure walked towards Twilight and Chaos, it then formed a large black stallion. Twilight narrowed his orbs and pawed the soft earth until the figure stopped, he then spoke, his voice icy.~ Dragon.
~The black stallion smiled a bit then nodded.~ Yes brother, it is I, Shadowed Dragon. Glad you remembered me. ~His eyes then passed over Chaos.~ Who’s the baby?
~Chaos spoke before Twilight could reply.~ I’m no baby! My name’s Colossal Chaos!
~Dragon snorted at Chaos then reared and slammed his hooves into the ground making large indentions in the muddy earth.~ I challenge you, Twilight! You have been running for too long, but not anymore! You are a disgrace to our family and herd, you were to take over as lead stallion of the herd yet you ran from responsibility! I took over yet I have to fight the true hear to make my position stand true! Now, do you accept?
~Twilight pushed Chaos aside and walked up to his blackened brother.~ I accept.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

~The fight was a gruesome one and Chaos had his eyes shut through half of it, but in the end neither stallion would give up, their pride was on the line, and then Twilight lost and paid the ultimate price, his life. Chaos was devastated and ran after the retreating black horse then kicked him as hard as he could in the ribs making him turn around. Dragon snorted and nipped at the colt.~ What do you want, be gone you little pest.
~Chaos frowned and stopped at the ground.~ I want to fight! ~Those four words would always be remembered as the worst four words he had ever spoken.~ You killed Twilight! You can’t just get away with that, I’ll fight you to avenge him!
~The stallion stared at him, wide eyed.~ Fight? ~He laughed and lowered his head to say something.~
~Before Dragon could speak Chaos kicked him squarely in the chin.~
~Pain shot up through Dragon’s neck like nettles, for a colt the young one had a good kick.~ You want a fight I’ll give you a fight! ~Dragon stood, glaring down at the colt with cold eyes that had narrowed to slits.~
~Chaos stood ready, his eyes narrowed as well and he didn’t move, knowing that to move would show that he was intimidated and Dragon would take advantage of that.~ I challenge you Dragon! ~It was said, they would fight...and both knew who would loose.~

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

~Chaos came into consciousness again, pain jutting through his limbs and up his spine. Dragon stood over him and lifted his hoof then came down on the colt, hitting him in the face, sending another wave of pain down his neck, down his spine, and into his hind legs. Vision temporarily blurred he glared at the black object before him.~
You fought well little one, yet this fight was over before it began. ~Dragons voice traveled to him and rang in his ears.~
~Chaos tried to stand but the pain was to strong, forcing him to stay down. He hoped that nothing was broken and that the pain would pass.~ Why didn’t you kill me?
Because you spoke with anger. ~Dragon spoke to Chaos.~ You knew that you would loose but you went on anyway, I like that kind of courage, so I didn’t take your life. Besides, you’re only a colt and still have much to learn about the world. ~Dragon turned and trotted away, his voice carried back to the wounded colt.~ Remember me Colossal Chaos, we will most likely meet again. ~There Dragon left Chaos, a small colt, laying on the muddied ground, dust swirling around him like a mist. From all directions Chaos could hear things from the past, voices, then he went unconscious again.~

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

~Two years past and Chaos grew into a young strong stallion, his brown coat turned into a deep hazel. He traveled many places, yet, everywhere he went, wherever he stayed he would end up leaving, something always reminded him of his mother, or Twilight, his caretaker. He became a loner, no friends, no family. He met other horses during his ventures, but they would always leave, go off on their own. The stallions usually wanted to start herds, the mare wanting a stallion, and he wasn’t their type. So he went on through the months, trudging through the days the days that would pass.~

~One morning, around the end of winter, the snow melting and the life returning to the lands, he was making his way down to a river that he visited now. He stopped short of the shoreline and looked upon it. In the middle of the river the water flowed fast and around the edges it was frozen. The ice could not hold a grown stallions weight so if one were to try and walk on it disaster would befall them. He cracked the ice to make a hole from which he could drink the cold water, quenching his thirst, letting the cool water wash down his parched throat. Chaos lifted his regal head and was started away from the river when a figure off in the distance appeared. He squinted his eyes to get a better look and as the horse came closer rage filled and numbed his mind and built up inside him, but he kept it inside, he had learned how to control his temper in the past years. The large black stallion trotted to him, the melting snow crunched under his hooves making light marks in the ground.~
Hello good sir, is this your territory? If it is excuse me please and I’ll be passing through.
~Chaos stood his ground, not saying a word to Shadowed Dragon.~
~Dragon twitched his ears a bit wondering if the hazel stallion was deft.~ Did you hear me?
~Chaos snorted then spoke.~ No this is not my territory.
~Dragon nodded.~ Well then, I guess you wont mind me staying for a time. What is your name?
~Chaos narrowed his eyes.~ I am Colossal Chaos and I already know your name, Dragon.
~Dragon stood staring at the young stallion, slightly bewildered.~ Y-your Colossal Chaos. ~His expression of surprise left his features and he just nodded.~ I had a feeling that we would cross paths again. How has life been treating you?
~Chaos locked his gaze with Dragon and the rage he felt clearly showed in his eyes.~ Ever since you killed Twilight life had been awful. Never being able to live in a place because it’s to remindful. Do you know how that feels?
~Dragon shook his head.~ No I don’t, I really didn’t think that killing Twilight would affect you this greatly forever.
Well I just keep hoping that I will one day find a home that doesn’t remind me of my past.
~Dragon just nodded then looked to the horizon to see the sun rise.~ Well today is a new day, maybe you shall find a place today.
~Chaos shook his head.~ No I have given up all hope.
~Dragon frowned at the young stallion then.~ Don’t give up hope, remember this, even if you hate me for what I have done. Keep holding on and the world will hold on with you. Give up and you will be alone.
~The two stallions stood there, eyes locked. A black one and a hazel one, enemies from old, for a moment they seemed to have an understanding for one another. Chaos ran Dragons’ words through his head over and over again.~ What does that mean?
~Dragon turned around and started off into the forest.~ You will find out soon enough.

~That was the last Chaos saw of Dragon in a long time. He kept thinking about the words he had spoken and what they meant. Then as he was walking through the country side it hit him. What Dragon had meant was they everyone wants something yet only the strong shall achieve their goals. If you give up then those who keep on wanting and striving to get their goals will go one without you, and then you will truly be alone. He wasn’t going to give up, he will find a place that he can stay and find peace with other horses. He looked over the horizon at the dawning sun, there must be a place, it was out there. He would keep hoping until then.~

Present: ~Chaos travled into the land, eyes searching. He snorted. It had been two more years since he had seen Dragon. His hooves carried him across the snow then he saw him, there near a brook was the black stallion. Dragon lifted his head and chuckled.~ Well, well, it's been a while, Chaos. It seems that fate wishes our destiny's to be intertwined.
~Chaos snorted and shook his head.~ If we are to live here togeather I will have nothing to do with you. I still hate you for what you did, nothing will ever change that.
~Chaos then turned, he probobly wouldn't stay here anyway. If Dragon did and he left then it would be for the best, they would then never see one another again. Something for which Chaos would be thankful for. The hazel stallion trotted through the forest untill he came upon another river, he drank from it, ears and eyes alert for others.~
~Dragons watched Chaos untill he left.~ So be it, Chaos. ~He then looked around for another to converse with.~

Future: None can tell.
