As you know I have been having some problems with this board site.
1. Too slow for many of our regular posters.
2. Too much down time at the server level.
3. 17 days, almost 2000 posts lost without knowing why.
4. I can't see two colors between read and unread posts. I don't know how many others are having the same problem.
5. Slow or no response from tech support for the server.

For this reason I have been searching for a new provider for our board. I have found two I would like to try. I do have a preference between the two, if it proves to be all it is advertised to be.

#1 Possibility

The advantages of this board are -
1. Good speed
2. Easy posting with a method familiar to many of you.
3. Adds can be eliminated with an upgrade fee.
The disadvatages are -
1. Limited archive space. 2000 posts which would last us only 2-3 weeks.
2. Very few extra features or management capability.
3. IP's show.
4. No capacity to be set up as a password or limited access board.

#2 Possibility

The advantages to this site are -
1. It is supposed to have good speed.
2. Posters can come back and edit or delete their own posts.
3. If we use a password system, a poster has a login name. That name always shows in parenthesis, even if he is playing around and uses some other name as part of that play. Thus with the password system, you always know the poster who is the source of a post.
4. The posting method is learnable.
5. Unlimited archives.
6. An integrated chat so if you find a board member present with you in real time, you can opt to go to chat and talk. The board shows how many posters, if any, are in chat and the chat exits back to the board.
7. For an upgrade fee, the board can be made advertisement free.
8. There are many interesting features I haven't even investigated and better admin capacity.
Disadvantages
1. I don't know the provider well enough to know about board speed for sure, down time, or response time when there is a problem.
2. The posting is slightly different than what most of you are used to having.
3. Registering for the password approach could turn some posters off.

Here's what I would like to do.
Check both boards out and give me your comments at those boards. Let's all post at the second board I reviewed above (REALITY FANS) for 2-4 weeks and those who would like to switch to a password format can register at their leisure. At that time if we've had no significant problems we can decide whether to stay at that board, try the other one or come back here; and whether to switch to a password format. I will keep all three boards open until we decide and try to repost this daily here so those who only come occasionally can find us. I may keep one or both of the rejected boards open in case the preferred board ever goes down. That way we will always have a way to find each other.

Thank you all for staying with me and being tolerant, assuming you do. I'm trying to give us the best board I can find and afford. I am staying with free board space until we settle on a home, but will try to upgrade to get rid of advertisements once we settle in.
