Subject: Your points are also well taken, Pateh.
In reply to: Pateh 's message, "A couple of thoughts, Cari" on 10:11:24 06/01/02 Sat

I know how your heart must ache over the distressing news that seems to build day after day! I have many friends and some relatives as well that I respect greatly for their steadfast faith in your church and its teachings. Naturally having been brought up on Luther's Catechism, mine differ from your views on the need for celibacy to assure devotion from a shepherd to a flock, and I am unconvinced it is God's wish, not to mention not commanded in his Word. But of course there have always been misfits among the ministry in every denomination, and anyone who holds any human sinless and error-free is misled. Your mention of the possibility of a neverending circle of abuse is also a quite logical theory I don't remember being expressed before.

But primarily, Pateh, I was moved to respond to your post to assure you that there are many in our Christian brotherhood to support you in your never wavering faith regardless of the trials now facing your church. There is much more that we have in common than not, so we share your sorrow over the horrors that anger and disappoint. I hope that is of some comfort.
