Subject: Will there be nuclear war in the Middle East?

The possiblility of this is actually beginning to seem real and is beginning to bother me. Pakistan has just finished running test firings on short and medium range missles that will reach well into India. These missles will carry either conventional or nuclear warheads. India says they are unconcerned, because they have a substantial missle arsenal of their own. Meanwhile close to a million troops are gathered near the Pakistan/India border in the Kashmire region and neither side seems prepared to relinquish on it's prospective position.

We know Iraq has missles that will reach Israel and now Iran has admitted that they have developed a missle that can reach Israel as well. Israel has the most sophisticated missle systems in the world, third probably to the U.S. and Russia.

Suicide bombings and terrorists attacks on Israeli civilians are taking place almost daily now and the only recourse Israel feels they have is retaliatory attacks on places they believe to be harboring terrorists or their armaments.

OUr government as well as other world nations seem completely incapable of defusing the rising torrent of hatred and war-mongering.

So are we poised on seeing a major war break-out accompanied by the use of chemical and/or nuclear armaments? Besides the heartache and travesty of human lives lost, How would this effect our nation and the world's environment and economy?
