well,

all at once everything shook and the wind blew and there was a noise - everything shook and gradually shook harder and the noise got louder and maybe the wind was the noise or maybe it was wind. It only went on for a minute but seemed longer and after a few seconds I KNEW what was going on.

everything in the house shook as well as the walls, the windows, doors, light fixtures - everything.

Don was out driving in it - he had left the house to run down to the bottome of the hill about two or three minutes before it started. That scared me more than anything.

It was dark so no rippling was seen, plus I was inside so wouldn't have.

Don was fine, didn't even feel it (probably due to the intense driving experience navigating the sharp winding road down the hill in the little Miata - with all the vigor he loves to give it.

I don't want to experience one any higher than that, thank you very much.

Jaffe stayed by me while it was happening and when it stopped went over to the door and lay between me and it in order to protect.

I'll know next time to get under a door frame and try to get Jaffe to do so too.

It was wild, believe me. Then there were five aftershocks after that.
