How rigid standards were not so many years ago. We did need some softening of those attitudes. the trouble with human beings is that we seem to want to live at the extremes. Either extreme prudishness or extreme promiscuity, as if there weren't such a thing as common sense and moderation.

I know many girls who married because they thought no decent boy would accept their loss of viginity except the one that took it. Of course off to often, he assumed he had conquered the girl because she would be conquerable to as easily to others as he thought she had been to him. What a mess we were able to make of our relationships and what impossible standards werer imposed on young women!
