Subject: Opening an E-Bay account is pretty easy.

First set up a Yahoo mail or Hotmail email address that you use for your e-bay stuff.

Next go to e-bay and open an account using that email address and some payment information, etc. eg. they will want to bill you for their auction charges and stuff so you will need to give them a credit card for that.

Now go to www.paypal.com and open an account there also to accept payment through. Some people do have issues with paypal see: www.paypalsucks.com and www.paypalwarning.com for more information. We have used paypal for a number of transactions and haven't had any problems - knock on wood.

Then search e-bay for the item you want to sell or similar items. Be sure to search "completed auctions" or "completed items" also to see closing prices.

You have a choice of setting a reserve (minimum price you will accept) or using the "buy it now" option for a higher price that will still be attractive & will speed your auction along - you can do both btw. You also get to set an opening bid price as an absolute floor - look at comparable items to figure out what to do about each of these price levels.

You don't have to have the weight of your item/s right away, but it is helpful to list the weight and your zip code so the buyer can shop for shipping. Include in your description the phrase "buyer to pay actual shipping".

Pictures are great and really enhance the process, we won't list without them anymore. They do cost a little extra but it's worth not having to answer a flood of stupid emails (it cuts them down anyway and speeds up the selling process). Do post good detailed pictures - dark pictures are suspicious.

Do NOT rely on Mailboxes Etc. or similar services for packing - they don't do a good job and they charge a lot AND they charge extra for the shipping. Pack it yourself - buy a box and some bubblewrap from Public Storage or U-Haul or somebody. Ship through whoever the buyer wants to ship through if they express a preference. We prefer, in order:

Airborne Express
USPS
FedEx
UPS

Hope this helps
