Seriously, though, I would seek an Ob/Gyn's counsel on this, Cari---he/she knows the female condition better than a GP or an Internist. I found I couldn't hack HRT's as they gave me massive indigestion and funky mammograms, but some women swear they can't get through the month w/o them.

We're also living in the age of pharmaceuticals now, so mood enhancers, otherwise known as anti-depressants (indeed, Mai) may also be in order.

Your episodes sound like anxiety attacks which can be debilitating yet controlled through medication---ie. anti-depressants.
