Many people have written many things, and others from time to time have intentionally and/or unintentionally changed them. Then translators again made changes to the original meaning.
..... Jesus only wanted high-quality people as members of "The Kingdom of God", never mind their quantity; but the very many post-Jesus versions of what still is called "Christianity" want(ed) to maximize the quantity of members, never mind their quality.
