Okay, so I learned this trick many, many, many, many (you get the idea) years ago from the girl scouts of america. Simply get a pine cone, smather it in peanut butter, roll that in your choice of bird seed and hang it in a tree! The peanut butter is an excellent source of protein for the birds and they love it! Pine cones can even be bought now in craft shops or any wal-mart if you live some place where there isn't any naturally and they're really inexpensive, usually lasting quite a long time.
