As for the subtlety...no, no, I'm just not going to go there. They'd read it and review with "OMG THIS IS SO FUNY!!!1111!" and go straight back to writing about how Elrond, not Gimli, hates the delicate beautiful half-dragon who joins the fellowship despite having no survival skills.
