Subject: Shocks and fun!

Picture this scene.
Chiad is standing in a bookstore, minding her own buisness and trying to decide which books to buy. She notes that the bookstore has two forms of The Silmarillion for sale. One is paperback and one is hardcover. Chiad picks up both coppies to take a look at them. Both coppies have black covers and there are no stickers on either advertising any special features. Chiad flips them over to do a price comparison, please note that the following prices are in Canadian dollars. Paperback: $10.99, accpetable, especially for a university bookstore. Chiad looks at the price tag for the hardcover...she clutches her chest as if she was having trouble breathing and falls over. After lying on the floor for a few moments while relearning the concept 'breathing' she staggers to her feet and acosts a store clerk. After listening to her gasped question the clerk checks a computer... no it was not a misprint, the price of the hardcover book was $250.00 Chiad keels over again.

I mean, really. $250 for a relativly thin hardcover book? They're really trying to milk the fandom for all it is worth aren't they?
