Dear, may I give you a wee bit of advice here?

I'm a journalist. I've had things published, and I've had editors tell me, in all honesty, 'this sucks'.

Did my editors hate me? No. Were they making an attack on me? No. They told me something I had written sucked. Criticising a piece of work is not a personal attck. A personal attck would be 'you suck'. Of course you care about your writing. Sometimes it feels like your little baby. But just as your teachers grade your work, not you, we are criticising your work, not you. If we all took all criticism as an attack on our person, we'd all be curled up in a ball and whimpering. (Sometimes we feel like anyway). If you rather not be a curled ball all your life, don't take it personally. It isn't meant to be.

That was Cam's Advice for the Day (feel free to ignore it).
