Absolutely not. "Said" is oen of those words that you stop seeing as you read it often enough. Save words like "snarled" and "snapped" and "whispered" for when that's exactly what's going on. And furthermore, if you need a thesaurus for words like those above, then you're in big trouble to begin with. Those words should already be in your vocabulary.

Everything's valuable occasionally, but I really think that only experienced writers should even trust the thesaurus. And then, they only need use it maybe three or four times a book.

What it comes down to is this: Throwing around big words for the sake of big words makes you look pretentious, and if your vocabulary is so sorely lacking that you rely on the thesaurus, then using it is only going to make you look silly. Mostly because people like that are bound to use the words wrong. Case in point: LQ! ^____^
