I had very much the same experience when I first attended a Spiritualist church. I started going to their development circle but within weeks I was forced out due to lies, sneers and being treated in a very hostile way. One of the male healers (who apparently had a reputation as a 'ladies man) was harassing me all the time even though he knew I wasn't single at the time.
I was also being 'frozen out' of the group and I experienced open hostility towards me.
This was unfortunate because I know (I am not trying to boast) that I have always been open to contact by deceased loved ones. I've had this ability since I was a young girl.
It's not that I can contact deceased loved ones - it is more that they seem able to talk to me!
It would have been nice if I could have stayed. Not everyone was bad there and I met a few good people, but some seemed plainly nasty even though I did make the effort to be friendly to everyone.
I do tend to be a target for bullies and other negative individuals, and I hoped it would not happen with the Spiritualits, but sadly it did.
I have not been back since. I would love to sit once more and listen to the mediums on the stage but I am afraid to go back.
