I know too well this type of situations. When it is to borrow the money of others, it is very easy, and they don’t think about the sacrifice we are making and all the troubles that we had at finding the money and for living afterwards, without our usual monthly budget of pensioneers… But when it is for reimbursing it, they all try to escape their responsibility… When it is a small amount for helping someone, my husband and myself, we prefer to donate, so that there is no problems in the relationship.
Once we have lent a big amount of money to someone, in order to save his house, as he could not pay the mortgage at the bank, taxes of the administration, and the fees of the official Notary who was organising all the papers of his property. Fortunately for us, we made him sign a paper, with the legal way to write it so that we could oppose to anyone the reimbursement of the debt; and the payments we made to help him has been made by checks directly to the Notary who delivered to us the bills and receipts.
This paper he signed was stipulating that if he was selling his house, then our money should be automatically deducted from the price of the house to reimburse us in priority. We legally registered the paper upon the value of his house at the « Property Registry Office » (« Bureau du Cadastre » in French) to make it even more valid.
Then he found a Polish girl on Internet, and within the month that he met her for the fist time in a hotel, he made her coming from Poland; and within the same first month she manipulated and made a pressure on him for selling his house. The idiot, too happy to have sex with the Polish girl, sold the house! But when he sold the house, he did not want us to be aware of it. So he went very discreet for advertising his house in an Estate Agency. Fortunately, we found the picture of the house on Internet. Immediately, we contacted the Estate agency and his Notary to warn them that we had a legal paper + proofs of our payments. But the guy was decided to NEVER reimburse us; so he went directly to the court to complain and said to the Judge that our paper he signed was not legal. In few seconds, when the Judge saw the paper he signed, the Judge understood his dishonesty and told him that he was not competent for such big amount, and that if he persisted in his position of not reimbursing despite the registry of the loan at the « Property Registry Office, it would cost him at least the double through the process at the High Court of Justice, because he would have to pay a lawyer too; and he would not win! Well, his Notary paid us before even he saw the money of his client! No need to say that he was upset, insulting us; and twisting the truth, he went to say to everybody that we were the ones who went to complain at the court, when in fact it was him who tried to screw us in going to see the Judge! ! !
Yes, such situations happen very often! That’s why I did not doubt even a second about your testimony. With me, you did not have to justify that it is a true story. I know! And I also understand how you feel. It is absolutely disgusting to help someone, and to found that this person did not deserve our trust and our sympathy.
Personally, I have all my eyes opened, and I have the memory of an Elephant. When something triggered my red flag, I never forget what it was…
