 I stumbled across this site by accident and to be honest am very disappointed at the unnecessarily nasty remarks by some people, particularly those who don't even leave a name, which in itself leaves much doubt as to the viability of the remarks. I do attend Daulby Street Church open circle and other services and to me you are discussing completely different people than those that serve there.
To Concerned Person - Re your comments about allowing people with mental health problems into Daulby Street Church - All churches are open to everyone except those obviously under the influence of drink or drugs, or to those displaying aggressive or violent behaviour. In most cases it is impossible to tell whether or not a person is mentally ill, unless they are examined and tested by a psychiatrist each time they enter the church. Even if they were mentally ill, it is illegal to discriminate against anyone with a disability, either mental or physical. Reading your comments on the 'mentally ill' person you were talking about, it sounds to me as though you must have had a close relationship with her to invite her into your home, "she searched through my kitchen drawers and jacket pockets". I assume you met her at Daulby, otherwise why would you mention it to Wendy Rotheram? and it sounds to me as though because you have now split with this person, you wanted her ousted from the church so you could continue to attend without feeling uncomfortable. It is my understanding that an open circle is just that OPEN and is NOT a development class, which is for invited members only. As president, Wendy is not responsible for the love lives of people attending the church, any more than a manager of a pub or cinema is or a priest/vicar of any other church. Because she doesn't 'side' with you over this failed romance it is no reason to crucify her - I am sure she has been equally impartial with the other person.
Re your remark about Wendy not liking men - I have never heard her make any derogatory comments about men in any way or form and I attend quite regularly. I also take umbrage at the remark that Daulby is full of people with mental health problems - as I attend there does that include me?
You also made remarks which contradicted yourself when you said spirit do not know any better than we do and then you say there is no afterlife (and therefore no spirit).
You mentioned about raising these matters for public awareness and I think that's a brilliant idea, all the people who are posting these slanderous allegations under pseudonyms will have to come out in the open and I'm sure they will all have skeletons they don't wish to be seen.
To be honest if I were Wendy I would probably involve the police anyway because some of the remarks made by some people severely contravene the libel laws.
ps there is so much talk here about mental illnesses - did you all go to the same medical school - it appears everyone but the people actually writing the comments are mentally ill.
pps well done those who have spoken out against these nasty nasty people who have nothing better to do but vent their jealousy
