There are good and bad people in every organisation. The SNU is no exception. The OP was concerned about cleaning up the SNU and the general feeling is that the SNU complaints procedure is at fault. But we need to offer constructive ideas to fix these problems.

If I could change one thing about the SNU it would be the committee system. It may appear to be democratic, but I feel that the entire membership of the SNU should be allowed to vote on who sits on their national executive committee, and every committee place should have a fixed two year span, across all committees, church and upper SNU committees included. There are too many people dug into their positions and real progress becomes impossible when the same old friends elect the same old buddies, who help the same old chums, etc. etc.

If they are worried about electing skilled committee people, like the financial director, perhaps this needs a more permanent position, similar to the paid General Secretary job, you could have a paid FD who is not elected and has passive committee role outside of finances.
