Because of the unique structure of our league, I think we should explore the possibility of not using AIM. My reasons are this.

1) We are using primarily full time players.

2) To "propel' through careers and look at career numbers (which to me is half the fun of a retro league) we want to move quickly through seasons.

3) Whatever we do, we still want to play the games ourselves.

By using the non-AIM option, we would be able to have every owner host a series each week (or half-week). This would mean getting about 10-15 games per week in, allowing us to finish a season in about 2-3 months. AIM was designed to make sure part-time players were used realistically. Our players shouldn't tire. The only true platoon position we have is at Catcher. We could set up pitching rotations that would have to be followed (bench starters), and use limits on the relievers (i.e. IP).

The biggest problem I can foresee is with relief pitchers. But we're intelligent BBW playing owners ... I'm sure we could think up a fair solution. We could still set the game for injuries, without fatigue. Using this system we could finish season 1 by mid August (and that would include a playoff).
