If you hadn't seen it, there is a biography of John Rudolph Ziegmann (Sr.) on the Odebolt history site: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~iaohms/bio_t_z.html

I am a relative through John's daughter Barbara Kunigunde Ziegmann who married Joseph Herman Wenzel (the aforementioned site has both Joseph and John listed as husband, but Joseph is correct [John was one of their sons]).

It seems that both John Ziegmann and his wife Barbara Heidenreich were from an area of Bavaria northeast of Bamberg. There are two towns there called Ro▀dach and Weichenwasserlos.

John Ziegmann traveled back to the Bamberg area in 1906. You can find newspaper reports from the from page of the Odebolt newspaper from July 12, 1906 (right hand column), and his return trip reported on October 4, 1906 (front page / as Zeigman).
